Prince Frederick, MD November 21, 2017 – Calvert Library Foundation has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.
Calvert County citizens and businesses can contribute to the Foundation on #GivingTuesday to grow the Calvert Library’s exceptional programs throughout our community. Occurring this year on November 28, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the US) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.
The Foundation joins the #GivingTuesday movement to amplify the opportunities for Calvert County citizens and businesses to support of Calvert Public Library’s projects, directly benefiting all ages of our community.
Calvert Library Director Carrie Plymire said, “Calvert Library Foundation makes the difference between the library being great and being exceptional. The Foundation has enabled us to install Imagination Stations in all four library locations, funded the purchase of STEM toys and tools for librarians to use in classes with children and youth and raises money to support library capital building projects.”
“The Calvert Library Foundation strives to enable our library to provide all county residents continued access to information and activities to better their lives. Through your generosity, the library excels at providing those services and daily makes a positive difference in the lives of those who use them. Thank you for support” said Calvert Library Foundation President Scott Deacon.

About Calvert Library Foundation
The Foundation is dedicated to improving public library services and facilities in Calvert County by encouraging the generosity of the residents of the County and by securing major funding from business and private sources. The Foundation’s Board of Directors invests donations, considers funding requests by the Director of the Library and the Board of Trustees of the Library, and determines how funds raised by the Foundation will be disbursed — with the objective of making significant improvements that could not be accomplished through other resources, such as governmental funding. The Foundation is a charitable corporation of the State of Maryland, eligible to receive tax exempt donations as a “501(c)(3)” foundation. While not involved in governance of the Library, the Foundation is essential to the Library achieving and maintaining superior services and facilities for the citizens of the County.
