SMRLA is arranging to have new books ordered through Ingram arrive at SMRLA already RFID tagged. They will have “smart tags” that will be pre-linked to the items’ barcodes, saving time in processing new materials. The Ingram RFID tags will also be branded with your county’s black and white logo. In the interim SMRLA staff is manually tagging and linking items purchased from Ingram.
Media purchased from Midwest Tape will also be tagged and linked by the SMRLA Tech Services team, including media materials for Charles County. The tags for media will be placed on the blank side of the front cover art. The SMRLA Tech Services team will tag all other materials before they are sent to branches, including donations and materials purchased from vendors beyond Ingram and Midwest Tape.
Equipment at each library branch will allow staff to tag and link any items not captured in the initial tagging process or any items that are inadvertently missed by the Tech Services team.
