Calvert Library, museums and government agencies may reserve and install displays in the display cases. The display cases should be used primarily to educate the public about current and historical events in Calvert County. Only library staff will reserve display cases for external groups.

Display cases are available in Calvert Library Prince Frederick, Twin Beaches Branch and Southern Branch.

Displays must be contained inside the display case, be high-quality, readable, attractive, eye-catching and make full use of the available space.

An organization’s use of a display case does not imply the Library’s endorsement or approval. Each display will have a sign indicating the organization that prepared it.

The display cases lock. However, Calvert Library assumes no responsibility for the preservation, protection, or possible damage or theft of any item displayed or exhibited. All items placed in the display case are done so at the owner’s risk.

All displays must meet existing Library policies and State and Federal laws including, but not limited to, those on obscenity, libel, defamation of character and invasion of privacy.

Purely commercial use of the display space is prohibited.

Reservations for display cases are made in one-month periods for up to four consecutive months per installation and may be made up to 12 months in advance. Displays should be installed as close to the first of the month as possible. Time to install displays should be scheduled with library staff in advance, depending on the Library’s schedule and staff availability. Displays should be taken down by the last day of the month in which the reservation ends.

The Library will not provide any supplies. Adhesives may not be applied to the walls.

Library staff will not help set up or take down displays.

Display cases shall be left neat, clean and in orderly condition.

Final discretion for displays rests with the Executive Director.
