Oral History Volunteer
Purpose: Preserve the history of Calvert County through coordinating oral history interviews. Help turn memories into history! More information about the project.

Location: various locations, meetings at Calvert Library Prince Frederick
Hours Needed: Flexible hours, minimum of 30 hours commitment over the course of a year
Responsibilities may include:
- Identify interview subjects
- Priority areas:
- older members of the community
- Black, Indigenous and People of Color from the community
- Library
- Develop skills to be able to record interview subjects
- Develop training and documentation of the process
- Use of equipment
- Prepping Interview
- Recording environment
- Recording procedures
- Establishing and confirming interview dates and times
- Possibly preparing for an interview by doing background research
- Prepping interview pair to make sure they have enough good content and a set of open-ended questions for 30-40 minutes of interview
- Observing interviews and operating equipment.
- Maintaining interview forms/releases as necessary.
- Completing any typing and data entry assignments as needed
- Maintain communication with Oral History team
- Recruit for Oral History team
Qualifications/Skills required:
- Age 16 or older
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to speak clearly
- Some technical skills required
- Ability to write legibly
- Ability to use word processing software
- Ability to work independently
- Active Listening skills
- Dependable and reliable
Training: Will be provided by Calvert Library staff and/or volunteers
Responsible to: Public Relations Coordinator or Library Staff Oral History Liaison
