Each Calvert Library location has space for posting information from non-library organizations.

Pamphlets from government agencies and non-profit organizations are accepted for public distribution as space allows.

Fliers for the bulletin board must include the name of the sponsoring organization or the name and telephone number or e-mail address of a contact person. Materials are accepted from:

  • government agencies
  • non-profit organizations (excluding events that are not open to the public)

Businesses may submit a business card to be posted, subject to available space.

All material to be displayed must be submitted to library staff for approval. Materials that comply with this policy will be posted as space is available.

For non-library events held in library spaces, any publicity must list the name of the organization sponsoring the meeting. Publicity must include the statement, “This is not a library-sponsored program.”

Information/materials that are not accepted:

  • Partisan political signs.  A sign announcing an informational meeting to be held by a political candidate at a specific time and place, open to all, is acceptable.  A sign encouraging the public to vote for a particular candidate or for/against a particular issue is not.
  • Announcements of events not open to the general public, regardless of the sponsoring organization. (For example, a sign announcing membership meetings of a service organization.)
  • Notices from anonymous groups or individuals.
  • Signs over 8 ½ x 11 inches
  • Signs for events that are 3 or more months in the future
  • Personal advertisements such as yard sales

The bulletin board will be monitored by library staff. Outdated flyers and flyers displayed for 3 months will be removed.

Branch Managers may make exceptions to this policy.
