Books in Bloom

Make book-inspired floral arrangements that will be on display at Calvert Library locations March 13 – 16, 2024.  Join Calvert Garden Club’s demonstration class to discover the artistry of floral design or simply unleash your creativity. This event is perfect for homeschoolers, clubs, scouts, and flower enthusiasts alike, providing a wonderful opportunity to craft something special to share with our community.

• Optional design class: February 15, 10 – 11:30am
• Drop off on Wednesday morning, March 13 between 9am-1pm
• Pick up on Saturday afternoon, March 16 between  3-5pm

Staging the Design

Displays will include the following:

• Floral design
  • Will be displayed on a bookshelf or tabletop with a minimum of 24”x 24” top area.
  • Display top heights from the floor at typically between 2.5 – 4 feet.
  • There are several smaller display locations.
  • Please let us know if you are planning on a large or small design.
  • Your designs should not hang from a bookshelf or table.
  • Please do not use very fragrant flowers in your display.
• Book
  • Decide which book you will base your floral creation on and check it out of Calvert Library.
  • If you choose to use a personal copy, Calvert Garden Club or Calvert Library will not be held responsible for any damage or loss.
• 5×7 design information for a stand. Stands will be provided.
• Displays will be placed at the four Calvert Library locations as assigned.

Installation Day

• Floral displays will be installed Wednesday, March 13, 2024 between 9am – 1pm at the library location you have been assigned.
• Designers should plan to design and crate their floral arrangements at home. Creating your floral arrangement on top of the display location is NOT permitted due to the presence of paper library materials.
