The first task involves the tagging of all library materials. Each item receives a tag and is then scanned to link the item’s existing barcode to the RFID tag. This ensures the tag has access to the item’s catalog information. The vendor for the project, Tech Logic, is hiring its own staff to visit library branches and tag materials. Library branches will get an RFID reader for each self-checkout station and one for a staff workstation. For inventory control, each county and SMRLA will also get an inventory wand and tablet.
